Welcome to the Poulton and Wyre Railway Society website. The map below indicates the extent of the current mothballed infrastructure, this can be seen highlighted in red. As you can see track is down as far as Jameson Road Bridge. The line actually extends passed the bridge but is currently unaccessible due to the bridge being filled in for structual reasons. At some point in the future the society will look to excavate this to increase the length of the line - one step closer to Fleetwood. The line highlighted in Grey shows where the original allignment used to be, unfornatley due to Dr Beeching these sections of the branch were lifted durning the late 60's. It would be almost impossible to reserect the line past Wyre Dock due to the track bed being built on. The land where Poulton Curve Halt was situated has not been built on, this could present the society with an oppurtunity to build a station for the Heritage line. The black line indicates Network Rail maintained infrastructure, the line operates to Blackpool North. Check out the Aims and Objectives section and read the societies vision. This can be found by clicking the link under the "About PWRS" menu button.
