The PWRS Exec Committee are pleased to announce that the Society have located and indeed negotiated the salvage of a Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive built by John Fowler (Leeds) Ltd in 1955, number 4210108. The Committee have been working closely with the Lancashire County Developments (Property) Ltd and Fox Brothers in order to work out the deal and sometime in the New Year it will be moved to an undisclosed location for secure storage.
PWRS Officers have been working with a number of party’s on preparatory works leading up to the relocation of the Loco. Rick Rossall (Newly appointed Society Secretary) said "So far we have been successful in securing storage and we have also agreed the fabrication of a track jig on which the loco will be stored - this is being prepared by Hargreaves Plant of Thornton" "we are looking forward to moving the vehicle early in the New Year" Alex Herschell (also newly appointed as Society Treasurer and Chairman) said "We are thrilled to have save the loco and hope that at some point in the future it will be fully restored to full working order " "we are so pleased that Lancashire County Developments (Property) Ltd have worked with us on this and we thank them for their support".
