Well this is my first and last blog for 2010, but just to keep everybody informed we have started to rebuild the loco cab roof. The sides have all been undercoated with primer and set up ready for attaching the roof sheets. We initially started with a supply price of around £400 but with a little wheeling and dealing we managed to get the complete roof, rolled into shape and the gutters bent, for an unbelievable low price of £66. The roof supports are welded back in after repair and straightening and all we need now is some decent weather to be able to weld on the roof. | I was asked if the cold weather affects the welding process, "NO" I exclaimed " but by God it affects the welder." The clutch is waiting to go away early in the new year for relining, we still need to clean and paint the rest of the loco as well as overhaul the brake linkages. I'm sure 2011 will see the loco finished and up and running on the PWRS line, so till then I will sign off. Wishing everybody a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Glenn Fowler Loco - Project Leader |
